Bethel Church “cult” rightly under fire (Part 2) Bethel throwing out the bible

What we have noticed with the cults that we monitor (Hillsong, Christian City Church, City harvest Church, etc), is their capitalisation on the Christian ethic. They claim Christians need to apply the bible to deal with issues they come across privately. They often appeal to Matthew 18:15-17:

“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.”

However, when Christians do approach their “leaders” over issues of sin and false teaching, Christians don’t even pass step one. Instead, the cult eaders reject the bible and automatically treat those that question them “as a Gentile and a tax collector”.

  1. CW – sorry I missed this one somemonths ago, but it’s not the first time something like this has happened – shades of Tanya Levin…

    Of course, you’d have to wonder why such a popular and s”uccessful” ‘church’ would need security guards at all. I could understand their presence if it was only about safeguardig the “tithe money” – thousands and thousands of dollars each week, but those security guards were there to toss out dissenters?

    Brian Tamaki has reportedly used security guards at his Destiny church in New Zealand, as have many other cult like churches in the past and present. It doesn’t look good. When Simon cut off the servant’s ear at Gethsemene, Jesus healed that man, and told Simon to put up his sword (Luke 22:50, 51)

    No security guards for Jesus, but plenty for false prophets and cult leaders???

  2. Absolute shades of Donald Barnett and the forner Community Chapel & Bible Training Center in Burien, Washington (now Agape Church in Seattle). Please pray for the dear people involved in this frightening cult.

  3. The Church I go to in Kent England has links with Bethel Redding California.
    I posted something on my main facebook page warning them about Bethel Redding California but some of them from the Church did not like it so I took it off my main facebook page.
