Hillsong pastor arrested: facing assault charges

Edit 06/01/2015: People seem to think that Mesiti is not an active Hillsong or C3 pastor. However, Pastor Pat still does speak infrequently at Hillsong and C3 Church:

Money-Making Mesiti ‘Ministering’ At Hillsong London In 2010…

Pat Mesiti is a pastor of Hillsong and C3 church. For a long time he has been a close contact and friend of “Pastor” Brian Houston and “Pastor” Phil Pringle. Both Brian Houston and Phil Pringle stood by the unrepentant sinner Pat Mesiti when he was caught in adulterous affairs backs in the year 2000 and brazenly restored this fraudster back into church leadership in spite of his brazen prosperity heresy and his new career as a huckster.

The bible disqualifies Pat Mesiti of being a pastor for a reason – he was not a Christian in the first place. It was evident in his convictions, his beliefs, his lifestyle, his behavior and how he completely disregarded God, His Word and His church.

Why would this behavior surprise anyone? Will it surprise Brian Houston considering that he recently used Pat Mesiti in a sermon as an example to his congregation to aspire too?

Brian Houston’s testimony on Mesiti bends the truth to pervert the grace of God

This is what happens when the church is run by fraudulent men: the highest example of godliness they can offer is unrepentant, unregenerate sinful behavior.

Expect C3 and Hillsong to again justify sin and lawlessness in the name of Jesus (judge not lest be judged; he who hasn’t cast the first stone; for all have sinned, etc.). If you want to create criminals in society, all people need to do is let Phil Pringle, Brian Houston and cohorts justify their sins in the name of the Lawgiver.

Former Hillsong pastor Pat Mesiti faces domestic violence charges

A former Hillsong Church minister who became a motivational speaker faces domestic violence charges after he allegedly assaulted his wife in a “fit of rage” on New Year’s Eve.

Police from The Hills Local Area Command in Sydney’s north-west arrested Pat Mesiti at his home about 11pm on Thursday.

“The accused was heavily intoxicated and in a fit of rage over a family issue,” Sergeant Michael Plass said.

Mr Mesiti was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault. Police have sought an apprehended violence order on behalf of his second wife, Andrea. Mr Mesiti has not yet been required to enter a plea to the assault charge and it is not known if he will oppose the AVO application.

Fifteen years ago, Mr Mesiti was one of Australia’s most prominent evangelists. He had his own television show and had risen to become a national director of the Pentecostal church movement Australian Christian Churches.

But in 2001 the church leadership at Hillsong discovered he had been sleeping with prostitutes. He was stripped of his licence to minister. His first marriage fell apart.

“I was basically struggling with a sexual addiction,” he told the Christian magazine Sight in 2006. Two years later he told the New Zealand Herald he had “lost everything” following the revelations.

“I was so depressed that I couldn’t talk for two years. I struggled with my mental health.”

Mr Mesiti went on to become a motivational speaker and self-described “prosperity activist” who now instils people with “millionaire mindsets”.

“Not to brag, but I am a world-renowned prosperity and mindset coach with over 2 million of my books and products sold worldwide,” he says on his website.

“I am a sought-after business consultant to Fortune 500 companies and franchises worldwide on leadership, team building, wealth creation and personal development.”

His stated ambition is to create 10,000 millionaires within his lifetime and he has several speaking appearances slated for 2016.

Mr Mesiti could not be reached for comment on Saturday.

Granted bail, he will face Parramatta Local Court on January 12. The police application for an apprehended violence order will be heard on the same day. Assault occasioning actual bodily harm carries a maximum five-year prison sentence.

Ex Hillsong minister ‘hit wife in fit of rage’

A disgraced former minister of the Hillsong Church has been arrested after allegedly lashing out at his wife on New Year’s Eve in what police described as a drunken “fit of rage”.

Pat Mesiti, who claimed to be a sex addict after he was booted out of the evangelical organisation for sleeping with prostitutes, was taken into custody about 11pm on December 31 by police from the Hills LAC.

“The accused was heavily intoxicated and in a fit of rage over a family issue,” Sergeant Michael Plass told the Sydney Morning Herald, revealing that Mesiti was charged with common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The charges prompted police to seek an Apprehended Violence Order on Mesiti’s second wife’s behalf; he remarried following the disintegration of his first marriage following his ignominious exit from Hillsong in 2001.

Mesiti, a one-time TV preacher who now claims to be a “prosperity activist” (a motivational speaker) has been granted bail and is expected to front Parramatta Local Court on January 12.

Yet even after HILLSONG LEADERS THEMSELVES ADMIT it is ALL ABOUT PROSPERITY & THE MONEY, their foolish church members still, staring right in the face of it, deny this. How sad this Hillsong faux-church is.

One, Two, Three, Four. Grand slam. On all 4 qualities — Fail. This man is not qualified for any role in the Body of Christ. Neither are those who gave him credibility (Pringle & Houston).

Coming from an Australian Police Officer, that is NOT referring to drunk in the Spirit!
Key words that stand out in the article are:-
    BRIAN HOUSTON-PHIL PRINGLE- PAT MESITI
    HEAVILY INTOXICATED FIT -OF RAGE
    ASSAULT- BODILY HARM
    SEXUAL ADDICTION
What can a clown like Mesiti teach anyone, except blindly leading them down a broad road to destruction?

  4. Reblogged this on Truth2Freedom's Blog.

  5. Phil Pringle seems to have a knack for picking and giving credibility to cheats and liars, doesn’t he?

Pat Mesiti, Kong Hee…. I wonder how many others there are out there whose career he’s supported so wholeheartedly.

  6. Contrasting Pat Metisi with the Bible, there is a complete difference:

“Mr Mesiti went on to become a motivational speaker and self-described “prosperity activist” who now instils people with “millionaire mindsets”.

“Not to brag, but I am a world-renowned prosperity and mindset coach with over 2 million of my books and products sold worldwide,” he says on his website.

  7. If he hasn’t actually been a minister at Hillsong in 15 years, at what point does that connection cease to be relevant?

  9. Allowing married homosexuals in NYC, to have church membership (even if they do membership)and to be on the worship team to this scandal posted is a clear sign that Hillsong is not a Christian denomination

  10. Any news on what happened at the Jan 12 court date? I cant find anything anywhere!

    • Nine News reports…

“Motivational speaker and former Hillsong preacher Pasquale “Pat” Mesiti will fight allegations he attacked his wife on New Year’s Eve.

The 56-year-old, who describes himself on his website as an “income acceleration coach” whose goal is to help create 10,000 millionaires, did not appear in Sydney’s Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday when the case came before a magistrate for the first time.

Mesiti has been charged with two domestic violence offences, common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, both of which were allegedly committed against his wife Andrea in the northwest suburb of Glenhaven between 10pm on December 30 and 10.35pm on December 31.

He has entered a plea of not guilty on both counts.

Mesiti is due back in court next month, but in the meantime must comply with an interim protection order that prevents him from approaching Andrea Mesiti within 12 hours of consuming alcohol or illicit drugs.

The former evangelical preacher, who lives in Kellyville Ridge in Sydney’s affluent Hills district, has penned a number of self-help books including Staying Together Without Falling Apart, billed as a definitive guide to helping men and women “thrive together in a modern day relationship”.

  11. Ol Pat….we used to big fans of Youth Alive, until he verbally yelled at us at Armed & Dangerous 95…you rude little man..look at you now…you once a had tape called SOWING AND REAPING…now enjoy it.

  12. Heavily intoxicated, drunken rage, domestic violence… Why am I not surprised at these allegations? Mesiti’s strutting performance in the video (the Joseph generation) is sickening.

Proverbs 26:11-12 New King James Version (NKJV)

So a fool repeats his folly.

There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Mark 8:36 New King James Version (NKJV)
36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

  13. I attended a C3 church some time ago, when Pat had been ‘restored’ under Phil Pringle. Something that troubled a lot of us under C3, was that Phil requested other C3 churches such as the one I was attending to “host” him as part of launching Pat back into ministry. My senior pastor fully disagreed with this. He stated this to Phil who asserted his authority and put the pressure on our church to lovingly accept Pat as a speaker.
So my pastor (whom I ever respect) got up one morning and told the church of this issue, and how he did not agree with Pat being released back into ministry. He said our church may have to host Pat, but that he was forewarning us of this, and that we had permission to be angry, strongly disagree and to not attend church on that day when Pat was due to speak. My family and I decided we would not attend.

Needless to say, our pastor’s words must have been taken on board by Phil Pringle as Pat never did end up speaking at my church, ever.

So I guess I would say this – I agree with your statements regarding Phil Pringle’s handling of Pat Mesiti, and that Pat should never be on any preaching circuit.
There are actually many hillsong and C3 churches that agree! I believe the reason Pat was handed over to Phil for “restoring” and not restored in his own church, hillsong, was because of the outrage from hillsong members.

Please understand that belonging to a hillsong or C3 church does not make a person less of a Christian.
There are many pastors/members that push back on multiple issues.
I believe this is good – as one listens to rebukes from family members, moreso than strangers. God many times disciplines His church from inside the family.
I know that although Pat may have been on the speaking circuit, it certainly wasn’t promoted among C3 or hillsong churches (apart from the mothership church) after their initial try, due to the backlash. It makes sense that they got him speaking at oversees churches I guess!

I pray both hillsong and C3 learn from this mistake. I also thank God for the churches in both these movemments that stood up and pushed back against bad decision making.
