From satan or Stanley: “What if the Bible isn’t the foundation of the Christian faith?”

Paul has this to say about people like Andy Stanley:

“And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.” 2 Corinthians 11:14

For a very long time, Andy Stanley has been attacking the truth of God and His Word. His gas-lighting, word games and politics are unending as he often attracts a spotlight on issues that derail the fundamentals of Christianity.

This weekend, Stanley decided to go on the attack further. Before we look at how he advertised his sermon on the Northpointe Community website, we would like to alert you to Satan’s ministry and what Satan preaches:

“Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” Genesis 3:1

“The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”” Luke 4:3

“And [Satan] took [Jesus] to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”” Luke 4:9-11

If Satan’s ministry even revolved around tempting Jesus Christ to deny the Word of God, how much more should we be concerned when ministers say things like this to advertise their sermons? It’s time we start heeding God’s Word about Satan’s servants:

“What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”” 1 Corinthians 5:12-13

Andy Stanley does not need to keep justifying himself. His continual attacks on Christ, His Word and church should not be tolerated. False teachers like Stanley rely on you to give them the benefit of the doubt. They rely on you to give them grace so they can keep misleading people – and they need to silenced because of their lies. For Christians to put up with Satan’s servants is a sign that we do not care about Jesus as our personal Lord and Saviour.

Stanley writes,

“Do you find some of the Bible’s stories about God unsettling? Do you ever wonder how you can trust Jesus if it requires you to believe everything in the Bible is true? Does Christianity seem like a fragile house of cards that may tumble down in the face of scientific or archaeological discovery? Before you abandon your faith, it’s worth exploring this question: What if the Bible isn’t the foundation of the Christian faith?”

  1. I don’t know how much more clearly he could shout, “I HATE the Bible and I’m NOT a Christian!”

  2. Someone should tell this “preacher” that God and his word never changes. He revealed himself through the prophets, his holy word and his son, Jesus Christ. If the bible is not the foundation of Christianity then everyone is free to do what is right in their own eyes. Not a pretty picture. If you follow this preacher, rebuke him. If he does not repent, flee from him.

  3. Only one way to heaven and that is through JESUS. Sadly, people think of hell, as somewhere to go and have a real big party rave up. There have been those who have actually been there and GOD allowed to come back and tell others. It is no party by any means, but pure torment.

  4. This whole site makes me sick to my stomach. Have you even watched the sermon series? I would guess everyone who commented on this has some ties to fundamentalism. That being said, you’re trying to tear down a man of God who has been used by God more than every person on this page put together. You get to sit behind a computer and spew your ideologies of problems you have with this man but what does Paul say in Ephesians 4:25-32 or does that not count? Should we just disregard that passage of scripture? Whether you agree with Andy or not (which he was teathered to scripture and church history in this series that you’re bashing him about). What kingdom benefit is there to try and tear someone down? Speak life!

    • “What kingdom benefit is there to try and tear someone down? Speak life!”

Say that to Apostle Paul’s face.

“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.”
      2 Corinthians 10:5-6

So of course this site will make you sick to your stomach. It’s a site where Christians are listening to Jesus and His Word and are doing their best to be obedient to Him. You’re being obedient only to men who peddle lies and perverse doctrines. (Yes. We noticed you peddle the Word of Faith ‘Speak life’ heresy.)

“This whole site makes me sick to my stomach.”

Thank you for this insight. You would see that we have been as factual as we can and done our best to rightly handle the Word of God. If you were a Christian, you’d rejoice in the truth and you’re stomach wouldn’t be sick at all. You’re just another goat who demands Christ’s sheep get in line with your own religion. Sadly, it looks as though Stanley has done his work on you.

    • “Defending the Bible, while a two thousand year endeavor at this point for the rest of Christendom, is for Stanley a fruitless task. For him, it is unnecessary for the Bible to be without error. In fact, while proclaiming it to be certainly in error – despite his own church’s statement on Scripture’s authority – Stanley is trying to deny God’s Word in order to justify his erroneous “Jesus loves everybody” claim to unbelievers. In his twisted theology, it’s not necessary for you to know that Jesus loves you because the Bible tells you so. Jesus loves you because the resurrection tells you so, a resurrection which, of course, is proclaimed in the Gospel and revealed in the Bible.”

    • “Ephesians 4:25-32 or does that not count?”

It’s not that it does not count, it’s that frankly it is not applicable in the way you are trying to apply it.

  5. I listened to the message in full. What a horrible and satanic message it was. He wants to remove you from the PROMISES OF JESUS CHRIST that gives us great and awesome blessings in our lives. How can anybody defend this man? He gives more credence to Google than to the eternal Word of God. He attacks the Bible over and over. I am sick. 🙁

  6. And as a follow up to my last comment, Stanley thinks the Bible is lying but wouldn’t state the fact that people lie, science lies, the world lies about everything! The Bible is 100% true and is the eternal Word of God and is the final and only authority on all matters. He’s not a pastor. He’s a wolf.

  7. No one can doubt that the supreme battle is always over God’s word. The first thing out of Satan’s mouth was to plant doubt about God’s word to man – “Did God say?” Stanley wants to make you think that the Word of God is not foundational to the Christian faith, that only Jesus’ life is. This is misleading, an error in thinking and he is PLANTING DOUBT. His message plants doubts over and over about the veracity and reliability of the Bible. He promotes Frank Turek’s book, but I cannot imagine that Turek would endorse his message.

  8. Here is the Statement of Faith from North Point’s website. I think they need to revise this after the sermon by Andy Stanley as he certainly did not give the impression that he believes this.
    What We Believe
•About the Scriptures: We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.
