From satan or Stanley: “What if the Bible isn’t the foundation of the Christian faith?”

Paul has this to say about people like Andy Stanley:

“And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.” 2 Corinthians 11:14

For a very long time, Andy Stanley has been attacking the truth of God and His Word. His gas-lighting, word games and politics are unending as he often attracts a spotlight on issues that derail the fundamentals of Christianity.

This weekend, Stanley decided to go on the attack further. Before we look at how he advertised his sermon on the Northpointe Community website, we would like to alert you to Satan’s ministry and what Satan preaches:

“Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” Genesis 3:1

“The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”” Luke 4:3

“And [Satan] took [Jesus] to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”” Luke 4:9-11

If Satan’s ministry even revolved around tempting Jesus Christ to deny the Word of God, how much more should we be concerned when ministers say things like this to advertise their sermons? It’s time we start heeding God’s Word about Satan’s servants:

“What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”” 1 Corinthians 5:12-13

Andy Stanley does not need to keep justifying himself. His continual attacks on Christ, His Word and church should not be tolerated. False teachers like Stanley rely on you to give them the benefit of the doubt. They rely on you to give them grace so they can keep misleading people – and they need to silenced because of their lies. For Christians to put up with Satan’s servants is a sign that we do not care about Jesus as our personal Lord and Saviour.

Stanley writes,

“Do you find some of the Bible’s stories about God unsettling? Do you ever wonder how you can trust Jesus if it requires you to believe everything in the Bible is true? Does Christianity seem like a fragile house of cards that may tumble down in the face of scientific or archaeological discovery? Before you abandon your faith, it’s worth exploring this question: What if the Bible isn’t the foundation of the Christian faith?”
