As we study God’s Word, we see Jesus living in one of history’s most corrupt societies. Do we see Jesus as a political or social reformer? No. What we do see is that Jesus came to change people’s hearts and point them to God’s kingdom by preaching the saving power of the gospel and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.
“There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And [Jesus] answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”” Luke 13:1-5
Sadly Joel Houston, in an attempt to take a stand for social justice, has fallen headlong into topics he appears to know little or nothing about and demonstrating that he doesn’t understand the Christian faith he claims to affirm. And, like his father who tries to give the impression he cares for the abused, dying and lost, Joel Houston has now climbed aboard the social justice bandwagon, the category being #BlackLivesMatter.

Once again, we see Joel Houston taking a ‘stand’ on so-called racist issues, in an attempt to look popular to those masses who hold to a very secular social gospel:
And because Joel Houston shared an article from the very liberal Huffington Post, surely he now gives you the impression he really cares for refugees around the world?
If Joel Houston wants to be taken seriously, he needs to take Jesus Christ and the Christian faith very seriously. Instead, we have a young man (who might never have made it in the secular world with his talent alone), relying on his father’s ‘religious’ power (and nepotism) to give the impression he’s actually made it in the world of evangelical superstar pastors. And having attained that position, he seems to think he’s qualified to promote what is obviously a very powerful left-wing driven movement.
IT”S TIME TO GROW UP JOEL – #ALL LIVES MATTER
Are we seeing signs showing Joel Houston as living a productive sacrificial Christian faith demonstrating he genuinely loves Jesus, His Word and His church, signs based on preaching sound theology? Unfortunately what we see is Joel Houston advertising himself as a social-fad bearer for the sake of the brand name #hillsong. We see Joel Houston representing the brand name #hillsong as the answer to life’s social injustices. But then again, he is told to believe by his father that Hillsong is the answer to the world:

What we don’t see is Joel Houston totally relying on Christ and His finished work as the only answer to the lost and dying culture he has ordained himself to lead into the future.
In closing, we see Hillsong pastors take a stand for social issues only if it make them look relevant. And that’s not ‘social justice’. That’s injustice. It’s injustice because Hillsong and its pastors are exploiting these issues to further the brand name #hillsong, and to not care about what Jesus has taught his church on these same issues answered only through His gospel.
