Saddleback promoting their anti-theology Jesus.

When Jesus launched into ministry through his baptism, three amazing things occurred:

“And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:16-17

The heavens declared, the Spirit declared and the Father declared that Jesus Christ was the Son of God. This caused John the Baptist to claim that Jesus was the Lamb of God who has come to take the sins of the world. Immediately after this event, Satan came to Jesus in the wilderness, tempting Jesus to doubt His divine authority. What did Jesus use to fight Satan?

Jesus used theology.

It is written,

“‘Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Matthew 4:4

“Again it is written,

‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

Matthew 4:7

“Be gone, Satan! For it is written,

“‘You shall worship the Lord your God
and him only shall you serve.’”

Matthew 4:10

But apparently the Jesus of Saddleback Church never put his theology before his ministry?

“Jesus never let his theology get in the way of his ministry.”

The Apostle Paul has this to say to people who put up with false teachers who preach a false Jesus:

“But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed […] you put up with it readily enough.” 2 Corinthians 11:3-4

EDIT: Chris Rosebrough writes,

“When @Saddleback spews false doctrine and gets caught, they NEVER repent & apologize they just delete it. This is why I screen cap.”

Funny how John the Baptist rebuked the false teachers of his day for not bearing fruit in keeping with repentance. How is Saddleback any different to the Pharisees?
