In their own words: NAR taking over and “changing the face of Christianity”

TAKING OVER AND REDEFINING CHRISTIANITY

The underlying extrabiblical revelations and teachings of this anti-Christian doctrine of “reshaping Christianity” are the ‘One New Man’, ‘New Breed’, ‘Billion Souls’, ‘End-Times Revival/Harvest’ and ‘New Apostolic Paradigm’ heresies.

We are starting with these quotes of Wagner so people can learn that it was indeed the New Apostolic Reformation cult that has intentions to change “the shape of Protestant Christianity around the world.”

Wagner writes,

The more I have studied the New Apostolic Reformation during the past few years, the more convinced I have become that we have a major transformation of Christianity on our hands.  Don Miller titles his excellent new book on the subject Reinventing American Protestantism (University of California Press). By extension, I believe we are witnessing a reinventing of world Christianity.  If that is the case, it is all the more reason to give God thanks for allowing us to be alive and active in His kingdom in these enthralling days.

Wagner writes,

THE NEW APOSTOLIC REFORMATION

A few months after this I began to research what I have chosen to call the New Apostolic Reformation. When Bill Hamon prophesied, I had not realized that the apostolic movement- as a movement- even existed. However, in 1993 it was almost from one day to the next that God began to show me the commonalities of the movement as well as its immense importance as a new wineskin to carry the Church into the twenty-first century. I now see that this is, in all probability, the heart of the outcome of the prophecy from John Paul Jackson that I would be called to “help reshape the face of Christianity.” Since then, this has been the primary focus of my research, teaching and writing. My books The New Apostolic Churches and Churchquake! were the first two to emerge from my new assignment, and this book is the third.

Wagner writes,

When I began researching the Pentecostal movement years ago, it already had a name. This new movement, however, did not have a name. Because I was planning to teach a seminary course based on it, I needed a name for my course. For a couple of years I experimented

The New Apostolic Reformation is an extraordinary work of God at the close of the twentieth century that is, to a significant extent, changing the shape of Protestant Christianity around the world.

with “postdenominationalism,” but strong protests from my denominational friends persuaded me that it might not be the best name. Besides, many of the new apostolic churches have remained within their denominations. “Independent Charismatic” does not seem to fit either because (1) these churches see themselves as interdependent, as opposed to independent, and (2) they are not all charismatic in orientation.

The name I have settled for this movement is the New Apostolic Reformation, and individual churches being designated as new apostolic churches.

I use “reformation” because, as I have said, these new wineskins appear to be at least as radical as those of the Protestant Reformation almost 500 years ago. “Apostolic” connotes a strong focus on outreach plus a recognition of present-day apostolic ministries. “New” adds a contemporary spin to the name.”

Although many people were begging for a definition of the New Apostolic Reformation from the beginning, I resisted formulating one until I believed I had a more mature grasp of the movement. Now that I have taught my first Fuller Seminary course about the subject, I believe it is time to take the risk of a definition, hoping that it will not have to be revised too frequently in the future:

The New Apostolic Reformation is an extraordinary work of God at the close of the twentieth century that is, to a significant extent, changing the shape of Protestant Christianity around the world. For almost 500 years, Christian churches have largely functioned within traditional denominational structures of one kind or another. Particularly in the 1990s, but having roots going back for almost a century, new forms and operational procedures are now emerging in areas such as local church government, interchurch relationships, financing, evangelism, missions, prayer, leadership selection and training, the role of the supernatural power, worship and other important aspects of church life. Some of these changes are being seen within denominations themselves, but for the most part they are taking the form of loosely structured apostolic networks. In virtually every region of the world, the new apostolic churches constitute the fastest-growing segment of Christianity.

Infinite creativity seems to be the watchword for assigning names to local churches. The “Crystal Cathedral” and “Community Church of Joy” are among the most prominent congregations in our country. “Icthus” churches are multiplying in England. On a recent visit to the Philippines I came in contact with “The Warm Body of Jesus Church.” One of my favorite churches in Argentina is “Waves of Love and Peace.” In Kenya, Thomas Muthee pastors “The Prayer Cave.”

C. PETER WAGNER & CINDY JACOBS

Apostle/Prophet Cindy Jacobs prophesied over C. Peter Wagner that God was going to use him to “change the face of Christianity.”

“Mike and I were sitting at a restaurant with Peter Wagner, and the Lord gave me a word for him, that God was going to use him to do something that would change the face of Christianity. And he said, “Well, I’ll probably never tell anybody that.” Oh, yeah, right, Then, well, right. That’s the second part. I was gonna say that. In fact, the Lord, the Lord, and the word of the Lord said, “It will be, it will be like unto what Martin Luther did.”

Heretic John Wimber

Bill Randles quoted John Wimber saying the following,

“I think the most wonderful thing God is doing for us in these last days is raising up and restoring completely apostolic leadership, apostolic authority- the hope of the church, the hope of the world, is the apostolic ministry…So here God is raising up a new standard, a new banner, if you will, that’s going to radically change the expression, the understanding of Christianity in our generation … God has invited us to have a role in establishing this New Order of Christianity … God is offering to this generation something He has never offered to any other generation before. He’s giving us an open invitation to participate in something that will lead to the prize of all the ages … It’s greater than anything He’s ever done from Adam clear down through the millennium”

Bickle:

CHANGING THE FACE OF CHRISTIANITY
IN ONE GENERATION

For years I had read Jonathan Edwards, David Brainerd, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, and some of the Puritan writers, and I had adopted their theology of an unprecedented ingathering of souls at the end of the age.

But it was years later in September 1982, in a dirty little motel room in Cairo, Egypt, that the belief in an End Times outpouring of the Holy Spirit became a personal issue to me. The eight-by-eight-foot room was equipped with a small bed, squeaky ceiling fan, stone-age plumbing, and an assortment of crawling things that periodically scampered across the concrete floor. It was primitive by Western standards. I was alone, so I set aside the evening to spend with the Lord in prayer. I knelt on the cement floor by the rickety bed for about thirty minutes when I had one of the most incredible encounters that I’ve ever had.

You sent I didn’t see a vision, and I wasn’t caught up into heaven. I simply heard God speak to me. It wasn’t what some people call the audible voice. I call it the internal audible voice. I heard it as clearly as I would have heard it with my physical ears, and, honestly, it was terrifying. It came with such a feeling of cleanness, power, and authority. In some ways I felt I was being crushed by it. I wanted to leave, but I didn’t want to leave. I wanted it to be over, but I didn’t want it to be over.

I only heard a few sentences, and it only took a few moments, but every word had great meaning. The awe of God flooded my soul as I experienced a little bit of the terror of the Lord. I literally trembled and wept as God Himself communicated to me in a way I’ve never known before or since. The Lord simply said, “I will change the understanding and expression of Christianity in the earth in one generation.” It was a simple, straightforward statement, but I felt God’s power with each word as I received the Spirit’s interpretation. God Himself will make drastic changes in Christianity across the whole world. This reformation revival will be by His sovereign initiative.

I knew by the Holy Spirit that the phrase “the understanding of Christianity” meant the way Christianity is perceived by unbelievers. In the early church, people were afraid to associate casually with believers partly because of the displays of supernatural power (Acts 5:13). However, today, most unbelievers consider the church to be irrelevant to them. God will change the way unbelievers view the church. They once again will witness God’s wonderful yet terrifying power in the church. They will have a very different understanding of Christianity before God is finished with this generation.

I also knew by the Holy Spirit that the phrase “the expression of Christianity” meant the way the body of Christ expresses its life together. God is powerfully going to change the church so that it functions as a unified holy people in the power and love of God. What happens when we gather together will change dramatically. We will see unparalleled power, purity, and unity in the End Time church.

Christians’ relationships with God and each other, the way we will be perceived by unbelievers, and even the structure and functioning of the church will be radically changed by God Himself across the whole earth This change will take place–not in a month, a year, or a few years–but in
one generation. ‘That night in Cairo I understood this for the first time by a supernatural prophetic encounter with the Holy Spirit.

The understanding and expression of Christianity is going to be changed by a great outpouring of the Spirit that will cross all national, social, ethnic, and cultural barriers. It won’t be just a Western-world revival or only a third world revival. The Joel 2/Acts 2 prophecy says that in the last days God will pour out of His Spirit on “all flesh” (Acts 2:17).

A lot of things will change as a result of this progressive outpouring of the Spirit. It will have many multidimensional expressions so that it will not simply be seen as an evangelism movement, a healing movement, a prayer movement, a unity movement, or a prophetic movement. It will be all of those and more. Above all things, it will impart deep passion for Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit longs above all things to glorify Jesus in the human heart John 16:14). He wants to impart holy affections for Jesus in the church as we understand our identity as the bride of Christ (Rev. 22:17). Speaking of this outpouring only in terms of a prophetic movement is a much too limited concept.

The increase of prophetic ministry in the local church involves more than verbal, inspirational prophecy. It will include angelic visitations, dreams, visions, and signs and wonders in the sky, as well as an increase in prophetic revelation, even the kind given through the subtle impressions of the Holy Spirit.

My experience in the Cairo hotel room lasted less than an hour, though it seemed like a couple of hours. I left the room and walked around the streets of downtown Cairo alone until about midnight, committing myself to the Lord and His End Time purpose. The awe of God lingered in my soul for hours. I woke up the next day still feeling its impact. This experience connected my heart in a deeply personal way to the End Time fulfillment of the Joel 2/Acts 2 prophecy on a global level in this generation. My approach to pastoring in the local church changed radically on that one evening in September 1982. Little did I know that I was about to be introduced to a new dimension of the prophetic–confirmation of prophetic words through the acts of God in nature.
