It became a “watershed moment” for the body of Christ when John Macarthur told Beth Moore to “go home”. Despite scripture’s clear word on the role of women, we are now seeing men, who encourage women into their pulpits, guilty of ignoring a clear command of God Himself and as such are not to be recognised themselves. A command that’s based on God’s order of creation:
“Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.” 1 Timothy 2:11-15
“For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. Or was it from you that the word of God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached? If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized. So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. But all things should be done decently and in order.” 1 Corinthians 14:33-40
It’s the goal of Church Watch Central to always back up articles with clear scriptures in context, something surprisingly lacking in those who see themselves as ‘apologists’ for proven false teachers and prophets, as ardent supporters of those who oppose biblical truths. And it’s the discerning believers who are beginning to see these false movements start to align together, waging their own personal war against God’s clear Word – and in doing so, demonstrate a lack of love for both their wives and other women allowed to lead in their churches, exposing themselves to the ‘stricter judgment’ of God.
Just as God’s Word clearly teaches that both men and women are to share the ‘good news’ of the redemption won for us by Jesus Christ through His atoning work on the cross, His Word clearly teaches that the pastoral role is for men only, that the ‘church assembled’ is to be taught only by men, because God has ordained only male leadership in the church, with women serving in supporting roles.
“Men and women are equally valued in God’s sight and plan. Women are not inferior to men. Rather, God assigns different roles to men and women in the church and the home because that is how He designed us to function. The truth of differentiation and equality can be seen in the functional hierarchy within the Trinity (cf. 1 Corinthians 11:3). The Son submits to the Father, and the Holy Spirit submits to the Father and the Son. This functional submission does not imply an equivalent inferiority of essence; all three Persons are equally God, but they differ in their function. Likewise, men and women are equally human beings and equally share the image of God, but they have God-ordained roles and functions that mirror the functional hierarchy within the Trinity.’ (Link)
Which brings us to a recent Instagram ‘narrative’ where we see a series of bizarre and totally unbiblical posts by C3 San Diego’s lead pastor Jurgen Matthesius, trying to justify a ‘biblical’ role for women pastors in the church. All this done to show support for not only Beth Moore, Jurgen also included Paula White, Lisa Bevere, Christine Caine, Joyce Meyer and Bobbie Houston – despite none being ‘qualified’, not only on the basis of gender but for their aberrant false teaching as well.
And if there was ever a case for disqualifying Jurgen Matthesius from the pastoral role? His scripture-twisting puts him right in the ‘firing’ line:
“Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.” James 3:1
In follow-up Instagram posts both Jurgen Matthesius and his wife Leanne continued their false narrative.
From Jurgen Matthesius:
Jurgen Matthesius: “So God created man in His image, male and female…” Genesis 1:27. Every healthy home has the voice of a mother and a father. Both are unique. Complimentary, even when they seem to be contradictory. This is two book ends and creates a buffet of thought and perspective under the beautiful flow of authority flowing from God to Christ to the man to the woman. Both are required to teach/train/equip the children. A mother and father shape the morals, values, and manners important to a fruitful healthy life. Just as the father may teach economics and practical skills to the children, the woman also teaches etiquette and appropriate behavior.
The man will model strength, the woman compassion. The man how to win, the woman how to play fair, the man how to conquer the mountain top, the woman how to enjoy the roses along the way! Only through this divinely ordained interplay do her sons learn how to treat a woman (their future wives with respect and honor) and their daughters what respect and honor looks like, and by that the woman empowered by her husband.
The church is ALWAYS presented throughout the New Testament as the bride of Christ….A female. Jesus, after redeeming and washing her, EMPOWERED her (Acts 2) and then commanded her to make disciples of all nations and peoples. If we truly pray “on earth as it is in heaven” then we ought to see that if Jesus empowers his bride to preach and teach and do whatever is necessary to disciple the world, then our churches and our homes should congruently reflect the same.
Watch what these misogynistic teachers miss; when Jesus bride (called Ekklesia – the church) teach and preach we teach and preach HIS WORD. See how that works? Authority and submission working simultaneously speaking his words = submission and at the same time authority! When a woman teaches in our church, she is UNDER my authority covering, and she is under heavens authority and covering when she is speaking the word of God.
Don’t be fooled by those who poorly interpret the scriptures. Remember Satan also quoted scripture but it totally contradicted the rest of the Bible. (Link)
From Leanne Matthesius:
Leanne Matthesius: Today is a great day to Honor and Esteem the incredible women who have shaped my life as a believer! These Women have stood in churches on a SUNDAY and taught and ministered to ALL Gods people, their words have born great fruit the world over! These women have inspired and challenged me in my faith, enlarged my thinking, and built the lives of BOTH men and women through their teaching! So its been sad to see the attacks launched on women in the church and their God given influence and place. Every Healthy Home has the voice of a mother and a father!
And I for one am SO grateful for the example and courage of these women….literal mothers in the faith who have pioneered and tilled ground that I have been blessed to reap a harvest from!! None of these women have exalted themselves or clawed doors open for themselves but instead obediently and courageously followed the leading of the Lord….The FRUIT of their lives speaks to the calling and anointing upon them to minister to the WHOLE body! “Please Honor a woman of God today who has blessed and built you!”
Matthew 7 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit” (Link)
Again note the wicked twisting of scripture, suggesting godly shepherds are false – when they themselves are the false prophets, the ferocious wolves. This is a line drawn in the sand against the true body of Christ. The complete and utter apostasy in the last days is exactly what the scriptures declare will happen. A loving command to ‘go home’ by a gracious and kind older ‘shepherd theologian’ to a woman who claims to love God’s Word yet walks in complete disobedience to it – who could have foretold that two simple words could possibly be the catalyst for the much of the visible church to ‘refuse to love the truth’, leading to an open rebellion against God’s clear commands?
“Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12But
A reminder that this is the ‘fruit’ of Phil Pringle’s leadership – but be encouraged ‘ChurchWatchers’, the Lord will separate the sheep from the goats, their judgment already made as they stand before Him on that great, dreadful yet wonderful Day.
“He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!” Revelation 22:20
“Have I then become your enemy by telling you the truth?” Galatians 4:16
