A practical way to practice and celebrate Reformation Day this year.
FOR OLDER FAMILY MEMBERS.
Documentaries and Movies:
There are some great movies and docuseries on Martin Luther and the Reformers. You can watch “Luther”, a gripping movie capturing the story and legacy of Martin Luther. There is a dark death scene of a youth near the beginning that may negatively affect some younger audiences. We encourage you to review this movie before determining if this is appropriate for young children.
You can also watch the documentary ‘Luther: The Life and Legacy of the German Reformer’ with your teens. The documentary is about 90 minutes and will inspire your children to understand the importance behind Luther’s legacy. Not only is the documentary action-packed, the program includes commentary from scholars such as RC Sproul and Carl Trueman.

Some other famous ‘preformers’ or reformers programs can be found on YouTube. Below are some examples – the stories of their lives are captivating and inspirational.
The story of John Wycliffe:
The story of John Hus:
The story of William Tyndale:
The story of Peter Waldo and the Waldensians (English subtitles):
Some refer to Peter Waldo as the ‘Zacchaeus’ of the ‘preformation’. This is because of his response to God in giving his wealth to the poor.
LET THE PROTEST CONTINUE.
Christians can walk with youth in the streets to celebrate the Reformation, sharing the gospel rather than Halloween. It’s a clash between two cultures. One culture celebrates God and encourages children to uphold Godly living, promoting sacrificial love and gratitude – the other culture celebrates hedonism and narcissism, dressing children up to look like devils, occultists and witches.
While some houses may hand out candy, we can also hand out tracts. Put a copy of the 95 Theses on your door on Reformation Day so people can be see there’s a Christian family living there?
Isn’t it time to enlighten those in your neighbourhood? If there is a cult in your local area, keep the ‘protest’ alive. If there is a Hillsong, Bethel or NAR church in your area, if there are progressive/liberal or Purpose Driven cults in your neighbourhood, this is a great time to ‘keep protesting’. Try putting a copy of the 95 Theses on the door of these churches – just don’t use a nail and hammer, masking tape should be fine.
