Got to be fair: at beginning of second clip it can be clearly seen the “naked cowboy” is wearing blue, extremely short bum shorts/ underwear. However, the decision to do so in a so-called Christian meeting of any variety is unthinkable. If any person commits ANY personal sin as a result of seeing a near naked man on stage Hillsong is fully responsible.
Thinker – The Naked Cowboy is a well-known character in the States. The one on stage at the Color Conference appears to be just someone pretending to be him. Seeing the real character makes the copy (so cheerfully represented by Hillsong), even more inappropriate, don’t you think?

I really wish they would stop using that false, tired refrain! Jesus’ problem with the Pharisees wasn’t that they were “religious,” it was that they exalted human tradition above the Word of God (Matt. 15:3, 6; Mark 7:9, 13)!

My point was that people (like those at Hillsong) often automatically liken anyone that adheres to the Word of God to the Pharisees, and that’s a false comparison since the Pharisees did not in fact adhere to the Word of God. Actually, Hillsong themselves would be more like the Pharisees–outwardly religious, but inwardly, full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

This is what the prophet said when he wrote “woe to you who call evil good and good evil”. Satan has convinced many that if they proclaim a certain bad behavior is evil, they are being judgmental. That is a lie. We are supposed to judge what is good and bad behavior, and deem it as such. One is only judgemental if they’ve decided in their heart that the person engaged in the behavior deserves or is headed to hell. It is not wrong to call a spade a spade, or a sin a sin, when the behavior is clearly outlined by God in His Word, His commandments, as being a sinful behavior. We are to seek holiness and not look and act like the world, for if we do, we are enemies of God. Hillsong needs much prayer, for some reason satan has found a way to slip through their window and blindfolded them to the truth that modesty is a fruit of the spirit and worldliness is enmity with God, not enmity with us, but with God. Until such time, I will not buy their music.

If you think it will give Christianity a bad image, there is already many others that do the job way better. So maybe deal with planks instead of pointing out specks in others eyes.

I am not surprise to see this. Christian have fallen away from the Word Of GOD to make it fit their sinful nature. If you have made your own god then I guess it does not matter what you do, but the God of the Bible is the one i serve and live my life for. His Word is the Judge . We need pray for these people. Jesus say if you love me obey commandment because it honors him. Christians in the 3rd world country’s are being slaughter for their faith and we have this junk in our churches. Before the bashing continues out of context, I’d like to just let you all become aware of what was happening in the video. This parade took place during the Colour Conference, organized by Bobbie Houston. Since the conference travels around the world, she thought it’d be fun to take a video in each country and then combined them all into one big video. The above clip was what were we doing-filming. This wasn’t a church service. SpongeBob, the Naked Cowboy, the dancing girls, etc. were all on stage doing this jig because they were supposed to just be fun different things that made it obvious this part of conference took place in America. Again, this was not part of a service. It was for fun. If you find other reasons to bash Hillsong, that’s on you, do your thing. But at least look at this post in the right context.

explain why must bobbie houston use worldly things (stupid cartoon, man in underwear, worldly dancing girls) to be “fun” and represent a country? the context doesnt change that. this is hillswrong at its usual: no different from the world. you cant tell them apart, other than hillswrong soils the Name of Jesus on a daily basis while doing it. when is hillswrong gonna stop imitating the world?
OK – it wasn’t a standard Sunday church service. However it was a *religious* conference held by a self-proclaimed Christian church.
If Hillsong has become such a large church/ conference maker in USA surely there’s enough fun video clips etc. from the Hillsong attendees (themselves) of USA to show other churches/ conferences around the world!!! e.g. groups visiting USA landmarks, happily doing charity work only possible in USA…..
…or perhaps fun secular characters/ images – even if they’re morally questionable in mainstream Christians’ eyes – are more important to Hillsong because they’re famous/ easily recognizable (unlike the average Hillsongee)?

God is Love : God is Jesus : God is His Word : He is watching and He will not be mocked. It has been for such a long time that Churches have been able to run their own races and use God’s Word for their own blessed messages as they are so called. Blessed because we have such big Congregations and so many Churches throughout the World that belong to whatever we seem to be untouchable. There is a huge problem with that scenario God is coming back for a body that is without spot or wrinkle. Pastors are accountable for their flock. If they say God has put them there to lead then they are accountable for the actions of their people. Hence King Solomon and his turning to other Gods through his many wives. The Kingdom was taken away from Him and past onto someone else. The Greatest Commandment is Hear O Israel : The Lord our God is one Lord and thou shalt love the Lord thy with all thy Heart, with all thy Soul and with all thy mind and with all thy strength. Repentance is needed and a little more loving on God as He is Hi Word.
The body of Christ is without spot or wrinkle because of Christ’s finished work, not because we are “perfect” humanly speaking.

The body of Christ given a righteousness apart from the Law that comes from God through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.

“Apart from the Law” means apart from our behavior.

I think what everyone is forgetting is that as Christians we are to abstain from all appearance of evil. The comment above indicate that there is enough confusion over what was done on stage to show that fun and not abstinence from any appearance of evil was the name of the game. We need to be Christ like brothers and sisters. We are in the world but no longer a part of it. Lets get it right. It is only when we start getting into grey areas that the world can point fingers, and it will. Our mission is to go into all the world and preach the gospel. I don’t see the gospel anywhere on that stage. Come on Hillsong, repent and lift your game. While you play the world still needs a Saviour.

Both sides of this argument fill me with sadness. They have a huge following, think of all the people they have reached. There are churches where you know the Holy Spirit left a long time ago- it’s just dead. But this church is obviously filled with people, they are seeking. But is there deception- yes seems that way. Several years ago we attended a small church, the Holy Spirit was moving, but so was the enemy. I kept having dreams and visions and felt the nudging of the Holy Spirit to speak to the pastor. I told him what I saw, he didn’t listen – all three pastors were brought down in different ways. What I learned in that experience was that we – the church needed to pray. If we truly want to do Gods will, He wants none to perish. We need to pray for righteousness, we need to ask for forgiveness. There is so much hurt and pain in this world- we need to love each other and to care what happens to one another. Prayer is powerful- imagine if we all prayed for this church?
