Having served time in Changi prison, is Kong Hee still serving ‘time’ under the influence of Phil Pringle?

With the news of Kong Hee’s recent release from Changi Prison, it’s time to revisit the events leading to his imprisonment, and to ask these important questions:

Did Kong Hee use his time in jail wisely, biblically meditating on the price he paid as a result of his own unwise decisions – as well as having Phil Pringle as his ‘spiritual’ mentor? And with Phil Pringle back in the pulpit at City Harvest Church, Singapore, has Kong Hee once again brought himself back under the spiritual mentoring of a proven false prophet?

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1

A reminder of the price Kong Hee paid as a result, in part, of coming under the influence of Phil Pringle and his false prophecies:

Sentosa Cove.

With a speedy exit, for both Hee and his family, from a multi-million dollar Sentosa Cove penthouse in order to cover his legal expenses, Kong Hee was initially sentenced to an eight year jail term, for his involvement in misappropriating S$50 million in church funds. With his recent release after serving about two-thirds of a reduced three and half year sentence, we truly appreciate that Kong Hee took responsibility for his ‘criminal breach of trust’.

Speaking at City Harvest Church on August 24, 2019, Kong Hee told the congregation that he was sorry for “everything that has happened”:

“I was convicted by the court for criminal breach of trust. I have served my sentence and today I find myself humbled,” said the pastor, who sported a shock of white hair. “I want all of you to know that I’m so sorry, so sorry, for any pain, anxiety, disappointment or grief that you have suffered because of me,” he said. “The last few years have just been very difficult and painful for me and for everyone involved.” (Link)

But what price was Phil Pringle ‘paying’ while Kong Hee was serving time in Changi prison?

Pringle ‘served his time’, as C3 Global Church senior leader, travelling the globe, still imparting his false teaching and prophecies, having yearly holidays on the Mediterranean and when not travelling, enjoying down-time in his $3.5 million cliff-top home.

Mediterranean holidays – the new ‘shipwrecked’ price for privileged pastors.

A reminder from the Apostle Paul of the price he willingly paid for the gospel of Jesus Christ:

“I repeat, let no one think me foolish. But even if you do, accept me as a fool, so that I too may boast a little. What I am saying with this boastful confidence, I say not as the Lord would but as a fool. Since many boast according to the flesh, I too will boast. For you gladly bear with fools, being wise yourselves! For you bear it if someone makes slaves of you, or devours you, or takes advantage of you, or puts on airs, or strikes you in the face. To my shame, I must say, we were too weak for that!”

“But whatever anyone else dares to boast of – I am speaking as a fool – I also dare to boast of that. Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they offspring of Abraham? So am I. Are they servants of Christ? I am a better one – I am talking like a madman – with far greater labors, far more imprisonments, with countless beatings, and often near death. Five times I received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I was adrift at sea; on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers; in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure. And, apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches. Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to fall, and I am not indignant?”

If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, he who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying. At Damascus, the governor under King Aretas was guarding the city of Damascus in order to seize me, but I was let down in a basket through a window in the wall and escaped his hands.” 2 Corinthians 11:16-33

In reality, should the discerning body of Christ rightly call Phil Pringle one of the ‘Christemporos’?

“‘Christemporos’ – Christ merchants’. They use Christ, they trade in Christ, they sell Christ for personal gain, they pad their pockets, they build their empires. They are the happy Holy Spirit healers, and they are the positive thinkers, and they are the people who just wind up on the gravy train end of it, sucking it all up, the Christ merchants.” (Link)

As we revisit previous articles from CWC, we remind our readers of some of the history between Phil Pringle and Kong Hee.

A reminder – Phil Pringle is Kong Hee’s City Harvest Church Advisory pastor.

The early influence Phil Pringle had on Kong Hee, with Kong speaking at C3 Oxford Falls, Sunday 22nd February 2009 6pm:

Kong Hee: “All I can say is we are 20 years as a church right now and, and without Pastor Phil Pringle we wouldn’t be where we are today. You have an awesome apostle of God. He said, now listen just a while, he said that, you know that I’m, I’m one of the few people that, that has changed history or is changing history. I think you have in your midst one of the greatest men ever lived out of Australia if not the greatest, let’s give pastor Phil Pringle a big hand (loud applause), woo, Dr Phil, the real Dr Phil, he, he, you know I live in America right now, we have Dr Phil everyday but this is the real deal, this is the real Dr Phil……………over the years I have bought practically every single audio CD that Pastor Phil Pringle have preached over the years, every single one they’re all in my iPod………so I’ve been listening to his teaching and, and I tell you that some days, where, I feel like a Phil Pringle inside of me, you know I, I, when I’m stuck in a situation I don’t know what to do and I hear a voice, I want to say a voice behind the voice of the Holy Spirit, he, he, anyway I hear a voice ‘hey Kong’ (ha, ha) ‘its all good’ ha, ha, I’m not going to do an impersonation of Paster Phil over here……”

A reminder of Phil Pringle’s confession that his ‘prophecies’ are not perfect and infallible, despite the biblical command that they should be:

“But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’ And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’ – when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.” Deuteronomy 18:20-22

Phil Pringle: “I think any prophecy has a price to it; any destiny has a price to it. It’s not going to come to pass without help from God, without us being dedicated to making those prophecies come to pass. I get the word of the Lord for different people around the world at different times, and I try not to deliver it in too much of a way that it’s perfect and infallible. I mean, I could get it wrong. But when I feel a word, I definitely say it to people. I don’t think it’s a credit to me—it’s simply a gift that God gives to people. If you can hear it, then it’ll definitely work for you.” (Link)

A reminder of Phil Pringle’s claim that supposed ‘prophecies’ over Kong Hee, to purchase SunTec City Convention Center:

Phil Pringle: “Being prophetic is part of the relationship. I probably might have said five times to Kong – really, from the early days, every time we drive past Suntec City, I would say, “You’re going to be in that building.” Not at any other building. I just sort of felt that. And here we are, moving in, into the fulfillment of a prophecy, which is kind of “Wow!” (Link)

Prior to this, as early as 1995 Phil Pringle ‘prophesied’ that Kong Hee would own SunTec City:

Kong Hee: “The reason I shared that was because in 1995 when Pastor Phil Pringle came to Singapore and I was driving him around town – just bringing him back from the hotel and to the hotel. And we passed by this huge complex in the downtown area just in front of our parliament house. And it’s called SunTec City. Now it is the most iconic, monumental, convention center in the whole of South-East Asia. Pastor Phil turned to me and said, “Kong, someday you’re going to own that building”. At that time, my church was only in 1995 less than a thousand people. I said, “Pastor Phil!” I say, “God bless your heart. Thank you so much having faith in me”. I said – you know, I was thinking, “Yeah right! In my dreams!”

And every year. Every year he came back. He’d say, “Kong, you’re gonna get that building”. And he said that. And I think at one time he could see the unbelief in me. He start slapping me. You know how many of you know Pastor Phil likes to slap, right? He starts slapping me and pushing me, shoving me saying, “You gonna get that building. You gonna get…” And I just held that in my heart. I didn’t share that with anybody. My wife and I, we prayed and we prayed. And then – I want you to know, two months ago, we signed – oh last month – we signed the lease. We are now co-owners of SunTec City Convention Center.

Hallelujah! Amen! We’re gonna move in. We’re gonna move in twelve months from now.

Ah – I thought I’m gonna show you a video. This is our ‘Rise and Build’ video, many people come to City Harvest Church and they look at our church. Look at our pulpit. Our Rise and Build. And they say, “Hey! Why is it that in Australia they kinda copy after you?”

Well, actually we came here and copied everything from Christian City Church. So we have our own ‘Rise and Build’ and I just thought I show you this latest installment where we anounced to our church, SunTec City Convention Center. It’s a twelve thousand seater hall. And ah – it’s amazing. And already, in one month after we signed the lease, we are already starting to earn dividends from all the profits, eh! So lets just watch the video right now.”

A reminder that Phil Pringle prophesied over Sun Ho’s music career, telling them “God is going to open a big door for CHC in China to be a blessing to the people”:

CHC City News: “Finally, it was a word given by Phil Pringle to Sun privately in May 2005 that gave them clarity to their path. “He said, ‘Five more years, because God is going to open a big door for CHC in China to be a blessing to the people.’ That word gave us the courage, faith and confirmation to resume the Crossover Project,” said Kong.”(True enough, it was in May 2010 – five years later – that Sun broke her US contract and flew home when the investigations into CHC began.) The transcript above reveals just how much Kong Hee looked up to Pringle, and emulated him. Not only did Kong Hee copy Phil Pringle’s ‘Vision Builders’ campaign, Kong took the style of C3 Church, Oxford Falls, and reproduced it at City Harvest Church, Singapore. It’s clear that Pringle was (and perhaps still is) a major influence in Kong Hee’s life and decision-making. But was Pringle really hearing from God, seeking to mould Kong Hee in his ‘likeness’? It’s hard to believe that owning of a particular piece of real estate would be so high on God’s list of priorities, as Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, not to encourage the purchase of multi-million dollar convention centers.

A reminder that Kong Hee publicly ‘blamed’ Phil Pringle for his situation:

Kong Hee: “Let me tell you a scary story. (Audience laughs) This is Scary Movie Part 4 – Part 5. (Audience laughs) 1995, 1995, our church was a thousand people. We just moved into a new facility, and I was driving the bishop – uh- Pastor Phil – back to the hotel. And we passed by a brand new convention center called SunTec City. And Phil Pringle turned to me (true story), and you know how he does it. He slapped me while I’m driving. Slapped me – “Hey Kong! (Audience laughs) You’re gonna take over this building! This building yours! Hallelujah!” Pat! Pat! Pat! Pat! Pat! (Audience laughs) Reeeeaaally! (Audience laughs).

And – and then fifteen years later, we got the building. And now we’re in all this mess (Pringle laughs with audience). So, I told Pastor Phil, “You created this mess! You’ve got to come and help us fix it”. And he’s done such a great job!”

A reminder that Kong Hee still blames Phil Pringle for his situation a year later at Presence Conference 2013:

Kong Hee: “I’ve learnt one thing about Pastor Phil: he’s a prophet of God. He’s very dangerous when he tells you that this building is created for you or built for you or developed for you. Because in 1995, he said the same thing to me. He said, “The SunTec Convention Center is – developed for you”.

And then, I just checked a video a few years – uh, just recently, Pastor Phil. In the year 2000 I think. Or 2001. You spoke to our entire congregation. And you said, “You know what? You guys are going to SunTec Convention Center”. And so we did. And all the troubles began.

So it’s all your fault, Pastor!”

Finally a reminder of Phil Pringle’s false prophecy that Kong Hee would not spend one night behind bars:

Phil Pringle: “Amen, Father. Here right now. Father in heaven, deliverance is there’s. (Chris Pringle: “Yes!”) You’ve circled us with songs of deliverance. You’ve turned our mourning into dancing. The oil of just- the feelings of despair, the ashes are replaced with the oil of joy. What a victory this will be. Though it’s dragged on, it’s only for a greater rope to hang the devil by. In Jesus name, Father we pronounce victory. (Crowd cheers). We pronounce (Chris Pringle: “Yes!”) conquering. We pronounce deliverance in Jesus’ name. ‘NOT ONE NIGHT WILL THIS FAIR HEAD SPEND BEHIND BARS. LORD GOD YOUR NAME IS EXALTED. YOU WILL GLORIFY THE NAME OF JESUS’. Lord God your name is exalted. You will glorify the name of Jesus to this great man and his wife and that awesome church that they have built by the power of God and in the name of Jesus.” Phil Pringle (Link)

Do you agree with Kong Hee? Would Kong Hee have been in that ‘mess’ if Phil Pringle hadn’t falsely prophesied over him?

Fast forward 10 years to August 24-25, 2019. Despite paying a deadly price for criminal breach of trust – and putting himself under the influence of a false prophet, Kong Hee has once again welcomed Phil Pringle and his wife Chris back to the stage at City Harvest Church on August 24, 2019.

And once again Pringle has been invited to the pulpit preaching at City Harvest Church Singapore, within days of Kong’s release from prison.

Kong Hee calling the senior leaders of C3 Global, Phil and Chris Pringle, CHC’s beloved friends…

Phil Pringle once again preaching at City Harvest Church August 24, 2019.

So we ask the question – is Kong Hee still serving ‘time’ under the influence of Phil Pringle? Sadly it appears he is.

“Like a dog that returns to his vomit is a fool who repeats his folly.” Proverbs 26:11

Strong words from John Macarthur on ‘pied pipers’ who lead people to damnation:

“Many people, suckered along the broad road, thinking they’re religious, following this pied piper who leads them to damnation. And Peter calls them by these terms, and these terms speak of how dangerous they are.  He calls them natural brute beasts, he calls them filth spots and scabs, he calls them beguilers of unstable souls, he says they allure through the lusts of the flesh. And Jude calls them brute beasts, spots or scars or scabs on your love feasts, and says that they are flatterers who flatter people to gain a personal advantage. They are dangerous, they are clever. You’d be better off to embrace a cobra.  You’d be better off to crawl in bed with a hungry lion.  You’d be better off to drink a bottle of poison than to come near a false prophet.”  (Link)

In closing, is it biblical to question what are this false prophet’s motives? In light of his many false prophecies, how can Phil Pringle continue to manipulate not only the congregation at City Harvest Church Singapore, but countless others around the world into believing he truly hears from God? Are we seeing a fulfilment of the words below? Given scripture’s strong words, we say ‘yes and amen’, praising God for His warning:

“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.” 2 Peter 2:1-3

Have I then become your enemy by telling you the truth?” Galatians 4:16
