Did Benny Hinn claim he was spiritually responsible for the (man-made) Brownsville Revival?

There’s no doubt that key New Apostolic Reformation ‘movers and shakers’ were also heavily involved in the ‘Brownsville Revival’. One of its key leaders at the time was Dr. Michael Brown – who, while repeatedly stating he has nothing to do with the New Apostolic Reformation, continues to make the claim that the Brownsville revival was a genuine ‘great move of God’.

Another interesting claim Dr. Brown makes is that the Toronto Blessing had no spiritual connection to the ‘Brownsville Revival’. However, footage from the Brownsville Revival (and later footage of his fellow NAR apostolic leaders John and Brenda Kilpatrick), proves that Dr. Brown knew that a team, including Brenda Kilpatrick, brought the Toronto Blessing to Brownsville, Pensacola.

The following links show NAR Apostle Daniel Hagen and Bethel Pastor, Ben Hodge, wanting to clarify rumours that it was Benny Hinn who was responsible for starting Pensacola through NAR Apostle Steve Hill. NAR Apostle Benny Hinn confirmed them.

[Click to Download]

We have every reason to believe this to be true and the footage is problematic for Dr. Brown. This is because Hinn’s acknowledgement of Hill’s involvement with the Argentinian revival completely discredits the credibility of his claim to not being part of the NAR.

This is how the ‘Brownsville Revival’ was started and spread from apostle to apostle:

Laughing Revival:
Ap. Benny Hinn -> Ap. Rodney Howard-Browne -> Ap. Karl Strader -> Ap. Randy Clarke -> Brownsville

According to the late leader of the NAR, C. Peter Wagner, this also how Wagner recalls another aspect about how Brownsville Revival started:

Argentinian Revival:
Ap. Tommy Hicks -> Ap. C. Peter Wagner / Ap. Carlos Annacondia -> Ap. Steve Hill -> Brownsville
(Read ‘Rising Revival’ by C. Wagner – endorsed by Dr. Michael Brown)

Now we have Benny Hinn also claiming it all came from him:

Laughing Revival:
Ap. Benny Hinn -> Ap. Steve Hill -> Brownsville

It appears that every NAR ‘apostolic’ road led to the man-made construction of the ‘Brownsville Revival’. If Dr. Brown still claims he is not part of the NAR but praises the ‘Brownsville Revival’ (and his deep involvement), as being a great move of God – he is deceiving you.

Combining Benny Hinn’s claim, the above timelines and all these revival timelines, the statement below confirms a range of evidence of how ‘carnally’ driven the Brownsville Revival really was (emphasis ours):

“In the weeks prior to June 18 many key members of the Brownsville Assembly, including the pastor’s wife, visited Toronto, and they were earnestly seeking the same experiences for Brownsville. Prior to June 18 a video of the Toronto experiences was shown to the Pensacola congregation to encourage the congregation to desire the same thing. Prior to June 18, Pastor Kilpatrick talked persistently about bringing the Laughing Revival to Brownsville and threatened to quit if the church did not accept it (“Pastors orchestrated first revival Hill’s persistent urging pushed crowd to react,”  Pensacola News Journal, Nov. 19, 1997). Pentecostal Evangelist Steve Hill was not randomly selected to speak at Brownsville on June 18. He was selected by Pastor Kilpatrick because Hills was earnestly desiring to be involved in the Laughing Revival and was searching for a place to conduct a long-running latter rain “revival.” Hills had recently sought the Laughing Revival anointing at Holy Trinity Brompton in London, England.” (Source)

“The Prophets Prophesied Falsely, And the People Loved It So!”

“A horrible and shocking thing has happened in the land. The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority. My people love it so, but what will you do in the end?” Jer. 5:30-31

It’s 2020!-Nothing Has Changed!-Turn Them Away!

The ‘Charismatic Day of Infamy’ June 8, 2008, Lakeland Florida, the ‘mainstream/apostolic/ prophetic movement,’ was represented by the ‘who’s who’ of the movement, to recognize and align Todd Bentley within the movement. From Peter Wagner, ‘residing apostle,’ over the nebulous NAR, and president of ICA, (International Coalition of Apostles), on down, to numerous other apostolic and prophetic leaders, all ‘lifted up’ Todd Bentley, in ‘prophetic acclamation,’ while he secretly planned to divorce his wife. Covered here –https://scribalwell.wordpress.com/2020/02/28/a-snapshot-of-ongoing-corrupting-issues-in-prophetic-movement-2/

Last year (Aug. 2019) Todd Bentley made the ‘charismatic cringe news’ again, after supposed rehabilitation and restoration, from previous issues. The ultimate results after some ‘apostolic/ prophetic’ leaders continued to defend him, whilst others endeavoured to investigate, was his forsaking of any accountability and rejecting the investigation.

* I reiterate this black eyed incident to the ‘charismatic movement,’ to once again implore the Body of Christ to open their eyes to the continued corrupted ‘apostolic/prophetic movement’ in this 2020 year of incessant ‘false prophetic babble!’ Failed prophecy after failed, continues to pollute the spiritual atmosphere, that is glaringly obvious, if we would take the time to check back and examine things.

I have gathered several site links to that infamous day in 2008, Lakeland Florida, to remind us of the blatant gross error and deception demonstrated by the ‘leaders of the ‘charismatic/apostolic/ prophetic movement,’ that continues today in all of it’s ‘false prophetic rhetoric.’

Quick Review of 2008- Lakeland Florida

Todd Bentley reading ‘prophecy,’ from Wendy Alex of ‘God Tv.’ – JUne 7 2008 http://www.letusreason.org/Latrain51.htm “Jesus said, “I am coming in person.”

The Lord just spoke to me and said “This IS what will happen tomorrow night!”The King and the King’s anointing falls tomorrow night. The 8th of June, the anointing of the King of Glory falls. Jesus said, “I am coming in person.” The King is coming in person.I sense so strongly there will be a personal divine visitation of the Lamb of God, the Lord Jesus Christ to the revival tomorrow night.

He will come in the clouds, in His chariot, surrounded by a great angelic host because the great honoring of the Lamb of God, The King of Glory is coming to visit Lakeland, to visit the revival, to visit the outpouring. The devil trembles with that knowledge. For tomorrow the King of Glory sets foot upon the stage in divine, personal, one-to-one visitation.

Those leaders on the stage that day, endorsing, lifting up Todd in ‘prophesy,’ declaring the greatest move of God the earth has ever seen, are still representative of a ‘fallen, corrupted, deceived, ‘movement,’ ‘prophesying’ their false doctrines, lost in aberrant myths and speculations.

In ‘withdrawing,’ ‘turning away’ from such, we are not turning away from the Divinely, designed, ordained purposes, and functions of the Lord’s Bride, the Body of Christ.

False Prophecy, Doctrinal Error – Catalysts For False Intercession And False Revival

I wanted to address the reality of false prophecy and doctrinal error, that are catalysts for false intercession and false revival. As hard as it might be acknowledge and understand, false prophecy is rampant in the ‘mainstream/apostolic/prophetic movement,’ the ‘Day of Infamy,’ reiterated above as an clear ex.

An interesting fact to begin with Paul Cain actually gave a ‘prophetic word’ a month before Todd went to Lakeland, that revival would break out there! https://www.crossrhythms.co.uk/articles/life/Lakeland_Florida__Chris_Cole_On_The_Ongoing_Journey/34245/p4/

I used to view ‘prophetic predictions’ of revival, moves of God, out pourings of God’s Spirit, as wonderful words from God for the days ahead. My ‘detox’ journey shifted and sifted everything, esp. ‘prophetic predictions.’ Once on this journey I began to more closely examine, scrutinize, ‘peer into’ spiritual beliefs and practices around me. The failed=false prophecies reiterated above, and ongoing dubious words, should be convincing enough!

Corrupting Influences In The ‘Prophetic’

‘PROPHESYING FALSE DOCTRINES’
Of late I began to notice a pattern of ‘prophetic predictions’ of revival, followed by human initiatives. Before my sensitized detoxification, ‘revival predictions’ just seemed normal. But as I began to ask myself, “How much of what I’ve believed, has been based on ‘prophetic input and tho’t,” not on solid Scriptural exegesis?,” I started to realize that heavy emphasis on ‘the next move of God,’ and end time global harvest,’ was solely based on ‘predictive words,’ supported by isolated, out of context texts! It became clear that unproven doctrines, mindsets, world views were influencing what was believed to be ‘prophecy.’ Many aberrant practices, beliefs, extreme emphasis on ‘prophecy,’ spiritual exp.’s, manifestations, to the detriment of valuing, honouring Scripture as our foundation of truth, has allowed deception to infiltrate all levels of spiritual practice and exp., including prophecy.

Once I grasped this fact, prediction in prophecy began to trouble me more and more, error becoming more and more evident, manifesting the soulish nature, entertaining demonic deception, and doctrines of demons.

Claims Of ‘Revival’ Examined
Having established the evidence of such corruption in the ‘prophetic ministry,’ I began to examine past and present corporate gatherings, where claims of ‘revival’ have been made. UnScriptural and extra-Biblical aberrant practices, Biblical error, and lack of Biblical content and emphasis, extreme emphasis, highly unusual behaviour, spurious roots of people, ministries, impressions of spiritual environment, questionable character issues, exaggerations, contradictory statements, questionable financial issues, lack of holiness fruit, reverence, fear of the Lord, absence of outward changes, individually, corporately, societally, these and other areas examined, have indicated something other than God’s transforming work present in many so called ‘revivals.’

Some, perhaps much, of what has just been assumed as something from God that transcends human capabilities to process, has become evidentially another work, either of the flesh or demonic in essence. The hand of man has manifested in human efforts as well as demonic manifestations.

Aberrancies In False Intercession
Following the tho’t of false prophesying of erroneous ‘revival,’ linked to actual false revivals, reveals the catalytic nature of falsely prophesying, what in reality, is false revival. Also, in following these tho’ts, and examining numerous aspects of some ‘prayer movements,’ scrutinizing various activities and practicing emphasis, aberrancies also show up in many ‘prayer initiatives,’ such as contemplative/centering prayer, extreme emphasis on ‘prophecy,’ declaring, decreeing unScriptural proclamations, and numerous other questionable and spurious practices and faulty, erroneous mindsets, much similar and repetitive to false revival initiatives, reveals false intercession transpiring as well. Not only are the aberrancies, and unScriptural practices and prayers, creating false intercession, but the fleshly, striving nature some of prayer activities, reduces them to false intercession, false burdens, unBiblical focus and emphasis.

Evidence Of False Prophecy Catalytic To False Revival
I present some practical examples, evidencing false prophecy, carried thro’ false doctrine, catalytic in nature, producing, or leading to false revival thro’ or possibly including false intercession.

A few years ago, Todd Bentley, in travelling across Canada, visited numerous cities, somewhat following a ‘prophetic trail’ of supposed ‘prophetic utterances,’ detailing a ‘Holy Spirit outpouring,’ that was supposed to travel from west to east, highlighting the southern Ontario region. This region had been ‘prophetically mentioned’ by numerous people over the last several years prior. I attended several meetings, (pre-detox days!) and was enthralled with the ‘outpouring promises,’ so much so that I gave a significant amount of money to the “Glory Train Outpouring,” ‘sowing for revival’ in my city.

A ‘prophetic word’ from Todd, mentioning my city specifically, about a glory, healing, revival pool, coming to our town, filled me with jubilant expectations! Several years after that, my detox journey began. The ‘glory train,’ carrying our ‘glory, healing, revival pool never made it to our town! Nor did it even manifest in the location Todd was supposedly ‘releasing’ it from. He claimed to have, with teams from the area, lead 600 people to the Lord on the streets of that city, while conducting meetings there. I never saw on person testify to salvation, nor witness the increased ingathering at the meetings! False prophecies abounded regarding the region, over a period of years, no evidence, of ever being fulfilled!

One more ex. suffices for now. To the dismay of many, I concluded after much research, that my summary observations of the events at Brownsville Assembly of God church in Pensacola, Florida, between 1995-2000, hosted, by John Kilpatrick and the ‘Brownsville Assembly of God’ congregation, and primarily conducted by Steven Hill, were in fact a ‘false revival’ phenomenon. Walking thro’ and processing the applications mentioned above, in scrutinizing the roots, content, lack of fruit, and aftermath, of the events in Brownsville, I firmly believe that ‘Brownsville’ was a classic case of ‘false prophecy, thro’ false doctrine, catalytic to false revival, accompanied by false intercession. Summary detail here: https://scribalwell.wordpress.com/2019/11/12/brownsville-revival-before-the-beginning-a-different-story/

I’ll only relate the false prophecy, catalytic to false revival, and briefly, accompanied by false intercession, fhttps://wordpress.com/block-editor/post/scribalwell.wordpress.com/2586ollowed by premeditated, pre-planned, ‘staged,’ false revival, ample detailed evidence in the linked site above.

Brownsville False Prophecy False Revival Summary

In the weeks prior to June 18 many key members of the Brownsville Assembly, including the pastor’s wife, visited Toronto, and they were earnestly seeking the same experiences for Brownsville. He was selected by Pastor Kilpatrick because Hills was earnestly desiring to be involved in the Laughing Revival and was searching for a place to conduct a long-running latter rain “revival.” Hills had recently sought the Laughing Revival anointing at Holy Trinity Brompton in London, England.

Catalytic ‘Prophecy’

Prophecy attributed to Korean Pastor Cho changed three times- It is interesting how a claim regarding a prophecy attributed to Korean Pastor Cho changed three times, each time becoming more specific until it identified Pensacola as the city where a “great end-time revival” would break out and spread throughout the world. Actually, I had heard of that prophecy years before when we lived in Kentucky, and there was speculation that Evangel Tabernacle would be the church where it was to start. The prophecy didn’t change…the telling of it did. by Dr. Herb Babcock, Former Member of Brownsville Assembly Of God http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/prod03.html

1993 DR. PAUL YONGGI CHO’S  PRAYER FOR REVIVAL INITIATES  ‘REVIVAL PROPHECY’ https://discernmentministriesinternational.wordpress.com/2009/10/25/here-we-go-again/

According to the BAG mythology here is what they claimed took place. The Pensacola church has been divinely appointed by God to be the catalyst of revival according to some prophetic words given by a couple of recognized charismatic leaders. In 1993 Dr. Paul Cho, pastor of the world’s largest congregation in Korea was in the United States and was praying for revival:

He did so, and the Holy Spirit told him to point his finger at the map. As he did, he felt his finger drawn to the Florida panhandle and to the city of Pensacola. “I am going to send revival to the seaside city of Pensacola, and it will spread like a fire until all of America ha been consumed by it,” said the Lord to Dr. Cho, Dr. Cho shared his experience with others and the word predictably spread to many of the pastors in the Pensacola area. Some time later, a Mobile, Alabama, Church of God pastor (70 miles away from Pensacola) inquired of Dr. Cho. “Dr. Cho, there’s been a rumor that you have prophesied a great revival in America to begin in Pensacola, Florida. Is there any truth to this?” he asked. “No rumah! No rumah! No rumah! Said Dr. Cho in his broken English “Received vision; revival will com!” (2)

Cho’s “leading” of the Spirit sounds more like someone using a planchet on a Ouija board as opposed from hearing from God. Not to mention the fact that what Cho allegedly received from the Holy Spirit did not come to pass. The fire did not spread throughout all America, nor was all America consumed by it. The revival did spread to many charismatic and Pentecostal congregations and the fruit produced by it was nothing less than spiritual heartache, disappointment, church splits and fanaticism. (3)

At one point during the heyday of the movement, Korean pastor David Yonggi Cho announced from Brownsville’s pulpit that the revival “would last until Jesus comes.”

It is no secret how the revival came to Brownsville. Kilpatrick planned and prepared carefully. He led his congregation through two years of prayer for revival. He altered the focus of Sunday night services to concentrate on preparation for the revival. He brought in banners, organized prayer teams and assigned his wife, Brenda, the job of leading others in a call for revival.

ttp://op.50megs.com/ditc/prod03.html

Once John Kilpatrick got wind of Paul Yonggi Cho’s false ‘prophecy’, as evidenced by it’s unBiblical content and later failure, John put all of his attention into praying the false revival into existence, and initiating everything he could to manufacture and duplicate the Toronto exp. He threatened to resign his pastorate at Brownsville Assembly Of God church, if the board did not go along with his initiatives. When Steve Hill came Father’s Day, June, 8, 1995, witnesses said he cajoled people into reacting to his urges to ‘rec’ more.‘ The details are in the linked site, report above.

I have examined other ‘prophetic declarations’ of revival, in connection with ‘apparent moves of God,’ definitely catalytic in nature. Asking, pleading for something not of God, is an aspect of false intercession. Wrong motives, unconfessed sin, false doctrine, these and more introduce falsity, deception, demonic infiltration. False prophecy, thro’ false doctrine, catalytic in nature with accompanying false intercession, leading to false revival!

Herein is my urgent plea to re-examine, the ‘mainstream/apostolic/ prophetic/charismatic movement’, with all of it’s spurious baggage, manifested in much false spiritual activity, as sly and beautifully counterfeited as it is! “Withdraw yourselves, turning away from such people!”

“withdraw yourselves from such men.” 1 Tim.6:5b “Turn away from such people.” 2 Tim. 3:5b

In ‘withdrawing,’ ‘turning away’ from such, we are not turning away from the Divinely, designed, ordained purposes, and functions of the Lord’s Bride, the Body of Christ.
