The grift and blasphemies of John Hagee (Part 1)

This video sums up the very problematic ministry of the notorious grifter, John Hagee – promoting his book ‘In Defense of Israel’:

In the comment section, one observer had this to say over a year ago,

“John Hagee has said this for decades. His first book on this was published in 1987, “Should Christians Support Israel?” Chapter 10 of his 2007 book he was promoting here was almost an exact reprint of his 1987 book. It caused such an uproar that he quickly rewrote chapter 10, republished “In Defense of Israel” as “REVISED” and tried desperately to pull all the original copies PLUS this commercial. I have all 3 books. It’s exactly what his theology is regarding Israel. That’s why CUFI dues not allow the mention of Jesus, New Testament scriptures or songs, or praying in Jesus’ Name at ANY CUFI event. Jewish people don’t need Jesus according to John Hagee b/c they have their own irrefutable covenant with God outside of Jesus. Do your own EYES WIDE OPEN research and RUN from this wolf.”

Judging by the language and the time of the author, the article below appears to be published around 2007, refuting this heretical book:

The Latest Hagee Heresy: “In Defense of Israel”

John Hagee, the Pentecostal “pastor” of the 18,000-member Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, has just issued a book titled, In Defense of Israel. Doubtless it will turn out to be the most sensational volume produced by the controversial preacher whose pro-state-of-Israel political agenda is fairly well known. A video promotion of the radical book, via the internet, has Hagee making the following statements:

This book will expose the sins of the fathers and the vicious abuse of the Jewish people. In Defense of Israel will shake Christian theology. It scripturally proves that the Jewish people as a whole did not reject Jesus as Messiah. It will also prove that Jesus did not come to earth to be the Messiah. It will prove that there was a Calvary conspiracy between Rome, the high priest, and Herod to execute Jesus as an insurrectionist too dangerous to live. Since Jesus refused by word and deed to claim to be the Messiah, how can the Jews be blamed for rejecting what was never offered? Read this shocking expose, In Defense of Israel (emphasis added).

If this volume lives up to the promotion, namely that Jesus did not claim to be, and was not, the promised Messiah of Old Testament literature, it is heresy at its worst. If the promo is some sort of theological subterfuge designed to accelerate sales, it is duplicity in its vilest manifestation.

The term “Messiah” derives ultimately from a Hebrew verb, mashach, signifying “to anoint,” which occurs about seventy times in the Old Testament. Most commonly it was employed of an act anointing or consecrating a man for a special office—such as a prophet (1 Kings 19:16), priest (Exodus 29:7), or king (1 Samuel 16:12). Each of these three sacred offices was combined uniquely in the person of Jesus (Acts 3:22-23; Hebrews 4:14-15; Revelation 19:16). Hence the Lord most appropriately was designated as the “anointed” of God, or the Messiah. In the New Testament the term Christos (529 times), i.e., “the Anointed one,” is transliterated as “Christ,” because Jesus was God’s Christos (Messiah). Hagee’s position is so foreign to the truth that it requires little argument for refutation.

The fact is, the promotional blurb cited above contains an egregious contradiction. Mr. Hagee claims that Jesus did not come to earth “to be the Messiah,” and yet he contends that the Jewish people as a whole “did not reject Jesus as the Messiah.” The only conclusion one can draw from these premises is that the Jews mostly did accept Jesus as the one he did not come to be!

Biblical Evidence
Note this brief survey of biblical evidence pertaining to the promises of the coming Messiah, and Jesus’ identification with this recognition.

(1) The prophet Daniel declared the coming of the “anointed one” (Daniel 9:24-27). He detailed the redemptive nature of the Messiah’s mission, the chronology culminating in his murder, the effect of his death (e.g., the end of animal sacrifices), and the devastation that ultimately would fall upon Jehovah’s “people” and the “holy city” as a consequence of repudiating the Anointed One.

Christ applied this prophecy to the Jewish nation’s rejection of himself, and the eventual invasion of the Roman army in A.D. 70 (Matthew 24:15; cf. 22:7). See also Psalm 2:2, and the reference to Jehovah’s “anointed,” who was his “son” (v. 7). The New Testament demonstrates this psalm to be fulfilled in Christ (Acts 4:26; 13:33; Hebrews 1:5; 5:5).

(2) In her conversation with Jesus at Jacob’s well, the Samaritan woman declared: “I know that Messiah is coming (he that is called the Christ): when he arrives, he will declare unto us all things.” The Lord responded: “I who am speaking to you am he” (John 4:25-26).

(3) When Peter confessed: “You are the Christ [Christos – Messiah], the Son of God,” Jesus blessed him, and declared that this truth derived its validity from the Father in heaven (Matthew 16:16-17).

(4) On the day of Pentecost Peter proclaimed:

Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly, that God has made both Lord and Christ [Messiah] this Jesus whom you crucified (Acts 2:36).

(5) John the apostle affirmed that the “signs” the Lord performed during his ministry established the reality that “Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God” (John 20:30-31). These signs confirmed, both in “word” and “deed,” the Savior’s identity as Messiah.

(6) The Lord’s plaintive cry regarding the rejection of the Messiah, as prophesied by Isaiah the prophet (chapter fifty-three), was specifically applied to the Jews (cf. “his generation” and “the transgression of my people” – v. 8). Their refusal to acknowledge Jesus’ messianic role, in spite of the many signs he did, was a result of a hardening of their hearts (see John 12:37-41).

Those Jews that did accept the Messiah were designated as a “remnant” (Romans 11:5; cf. “some,” vv. 14,17; a small number comparatively speaking; see Isaiah 6:13; Ezekiel 5:3; Zechariah 13:8). Paul’s discussion of the messianic rejection of his “kinsmen according to the flesh” (Romans 9:3) and his agony over them (chapters nine through eleven), is a devastating refutation of Hagee’s incredible theory that most of the Jews accepted him.

It is theological insanity to make the claims John Hagee has done. It hardly is necessary to pile evidence on top of evidence for the messianic role of Jesus of Nazareth. As John (the truthful John) later would write: “Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ [Messiah]?” (1 John 2:22).

The claim of some supporters, that what “Pastor” Hagee is attempting to say is simply that Jesus was not the Messiah for the Jews alone, or that he was not a Messiah to save the Hebrews from political Rome, is a desperate maneuver to rescue the Texas preacher from the depths of heresy and humiliation. Words have meanings and Mr. Hagee’s are clear. If one cannot express his ideas honestly and lucidly, he needs to cease his journalistic endeavors until he can.

TRANSCRIPT

So on April the 8th when I get a call

from Patricia King in 2020,

she called about one of our HI members,

Sean Boltz. He joined us in 2013. I have

the application.

Now when you apply to be a member, we

ask you if is your primary alignment or

secondary. And it’s in the application.

[snorts] He put down HM is my secondary.

My primary is Bethl and Global Legacy.

And so I told Patricia,

what you’re telling me, we need to tell

Bill, we need to tell Chris because

they’re the the reason why we have

primary secondary because we have

anticipated there’ll be pastors who will

fall. But the question then is who will

be responsible for bringing discipline

and restoration.

We expect the primary ones to do so. All

right. but he was a member of him.

And so she said, “I’m going to send both

you and Chris this confession tape of

this young man

that was sexually harassed

in a very perverted way.”

And I’m listening to this message and

I’m absolutely devastated by it, shocked

because I’ve known Sean since

now looking back around 20 years, but

back then uh he joined Hime 2013. So

this is seven years later.

I called this young man up just to talk

to him personally

and it was very very credible. was a

Bethl student, three-year student, loves

loves Jesus,

and he was just absolutely

traumatized by what he encountered was

Sean Bolts.

I met with Shawn right here in this

auditorium in the lower floor. I

immediately called him because he was

pastor right here in LA, expression 58

at that time.

And when I met him, he denied

everything.

But

now keep in mind the Bible says on you

don’t bring an accusation against an

elder unless there’s two or more.

But it was so devastating and the the

confession was so credible when I

interviewed this young man that I

immediately asked him to step down from

HIM

and I canceled him speaking at our

conference that year. I said, “You’re

not going to be speaking at and not only

that, I’m going to not allow you to

speak at any of our churches.” That was

my word to him.

In many ways, I felt even kind of

did I go too too harsh? Was I going too

far with them? Maybe I should have just

wait for another person to come forth

before I gave them this mandate. But I

just felt in my heart that I needed to

do that. And then I called Chris and

said, “Chris, Sean says you’re his

primary alignment.” And so Chris came

down and flew down to LA to meet with

him. The reason why I’m saying this

is that the

cast on me that I was covering up for

Sean is absolutely a lie from the pit of

hell. There was no cover up.

There’s no cover up. If anything, I

aired on the side of being harsh.

I’ve never covered up for anyone’s sins.

By the way, you know that I could give

you a scripture verse for that. That’s

an abomination before the Lord if you

cover up someone’s sins.

I did what I thought was the best thing

to do.

And so

Chris and Danny Silk took

responsibility.

Now I think I realized that this is in

the midst of co this 2020 April 2020

and um we were in a lawsuit.

We sued uh Governor Newsome July 2nd and

in the fall it was just everything was

upheaval

and then we hit 2021. We started to open

up. We started plant campuses. We’re

really really busy. So, I didn’t follow

up on Chris until like a year and a half

later.

This just was out of mind, out of sight,

out of mind. It’s not just on my I

succumb to him over. He’s now in their

hands. And of course, I love Beth

though. I love Bill’s one of my best

friends.

By the way, Bill was not involved.

You know, it’s like Chris and Danny took

responsib. So, I talked to Chris around

a year and a half later and I said,

“How’s Shawn doing? How did it go? How’s

the counseling?” By the way, I also

offer counseling here. I said, “We have

a hope center if you want Sean if you

want counseling.” He said, “No, u” he

said, “Bill’s my pastor and um and I’ll

I’ll go up there.”

So,

I asked Chris, “How’s he doing?

and he said it’s a mess. He’s not

repentant.

He won’t receive anything what you asked

him to do and he’s just taken off.

Now, this is where

when I got all the flak for covering up.

I said, I didn’t cover up, but I said,

Lord, I and I think we have to all be

teachable because, you know, God’s using

all this to prune us, to discipline us,

and he’s disciplining the church.

And my one of my main prayers is some

where it says search me oh God know my

heart try me know my anxious laws see if

there any evil way within me

and then the Lord did correct me and

convicted me

because as soon as I heard that he

didn’t receive

correction from Chris and Danny

I should have come back to this house

and made that announcement that we’re

marking him publicly.

I did it with our leaders in Hime, but I

didn’t tell you. And the reason why I

should have told you is twofold. Number

one,

number one is because he preached from

this pulpit to you.

But number two,

I didn’t know there were other victims

until all this hit the fan

the last two weeks.

And it could have prevented and I’m

thinking along those terms of if I had

made the announcement you know what we

disciplined Shawn he didn’t receive from

us the two of us went I went to in

private

Chris went to him with the same

allegation same tape the same testimony

he didn’t receive from Chris and now we

have to tell to the church and I didn’t

do that and I take full responsibility

and I ask you And I ask the victims who

fell under his his prey uh for

forgiveness. So will you forgive me for

that?

[applause]

Because we do not have the original sermon, we thought it would be a good idea to publish the comment section which is revealing enough. Christians are finally courageous enough to call out the sins and cover-ups of Che Ahn

It’s too bad that you expect primary leadership to deal with these very evil behaviors, and when they don’t, you also don’t. You are culpable to the other degree.

The fact that Bill didn’t speak to him does not mean he wasn’t involved. He sent Kris and Danny, he was the one in charge.

It’s sad to think that anyone from the NAR would have apologized UNLESS Mike Winger first posted the truth. For way too many years, frauds like Shawn Bolz, Todd White, Todd Bentley where platformed and endorsed by NAR fake apostles even after they where exposed. It’s not a bad first step but it’s hard to believe its a genuine apology. Credibility is hard to earn and even harder to get back.

Che, at the point you asked Shawn to step down after talking to that young man, you should have made it known to all of us. I am one who was affected and I could have made adjustments in 2020 that would have prevented what happened over the next 6 years. All of you had a responsibility. To say “out of sight, out of mind” is a copout. It is obvious if you are not hearing anything obviously he hasn’t done anythjng about it. But what hurts the worst is that you have thrown Bill, Kris and Danny under the bus. What a good “friend”..

Its very odd that these so called apostals missed what was going on with SB.

Peter knew exactly what was going on with Annanias and Sapharia. He even knew how much they sold their property for.

The prophetic movement totally missed it?

So how can we trust anything they say now.

They all got caught.

Exaclty the same with Todd Bentley when they “commissioned him”

They missed it totally.😮

I cant help but wonder why Che & all other local church leader dont refer to and ADHERE to the clear scriptural admonitons in I Tim 5:18-22 for leaders & elders. Praise God for the clarity of His Word which is as practical today in 2026 as it was when it was written. ( all scripture is profitable not just for theoreiticians but for practiitioners !)….. can we get back to that ?? If we were to do so I believe it would be entirely cathartic for Charismatic churches as a whole.

Definition of cover-up from Merriam Webster: “a usually concerted effort to keep an illegal or unethical act or situation from being made public”

You disregarded 1 Timothy 5:20 and purposefully doing things behind the scenes to keep it from being made public fits the definition of a cover up.

My wife and the rest of her family have relied on you for years, calling you “Papa Che”. They went to the prophecy conferences you hosted that hosted Shawn Bolz. Based off of your word, they held his words to mean something. The LEAST you could’ve done was say that his words weren’t really from the Lord, not to listen to his advice, and to STAY AWAY!

You can splice and redefine however you want, but you did participate in cover up.
Praying for true repentance without redefining to save face.

@patriciabenavente8147

Of course he didn’t want counseling. Everybody is big on him apologizing. I don’t think people have to convince him he needs to apologize first to God and then to the victims. If people have to beg you to apologize that shows the state of your heart; it’s been hardened. Apologizing has to come from the heart of the offender not from the outside, for it to be real.

Narcissists despise people who bid them to humble themselves because that’s not at all what they want to do. They want to continue to be unchecked so they can do as they please. It’s as simple as that.

4:50 “Bill’s one of my best friends.”

Truth: You call him “my apostle.” That is more than being a friend.

Even the way you said, “By the way, Bill was not involved. Kris and Danny took respons -” and you stopped – because you knew, better not say another word.

Che, it seems clear that you are running cover (up) for the man you call your apostle. Not good. We must never honor man more than God.

BTW, one of your pastors, Jay Koopman, ministered closely for FOUR years with Sean Feucht (Shawn Bolz’ best bud😳) during his Let Us Worship tour. Have you ever warned your sheep about Sean Feucht? What’s up with Jay’s enmeshment with him?

I think it was right to stop him from speaking at your churches but yes the argument stands why was it kept a secret, so in a sense, he was allowed to go on and preach else where and it wasn’t stopped. you might say i don’t have authority everywhere but just at my organization but still it could have been made public. it says a lot or implies a lot if its kept secret. Eventually its going to come out right, so you cant keep things like this a secret. Later when it does come out then they will point the finger and say your complicit.

I hope you repent and forgiveness is always available to you, but people like you are the reason charismatics like me can’t find a church for the life of them. Down to the smallest local bodies, people try so hard to be like you guys. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do at a church that calls the gifts demonic or straight up doesn’t believe they’re still operating when I know they are. But there’s also no way I’m raising my kids in whatever this is. You’re forcing biblically literate continuationists into homelessness and nomadic migration as far as church is concerned. You can’t take on the role of international minister and thought leader and then not take responsibility for the culture you create. If you love the Lord at all, you will feed His sheep, and when His sheep are bleating for hunger and sorrow, you don’t ignore it, you don’t brush it off. For all that is holy, turn from these ways!
