In this short segment we’ve obtained from Patricia King’s XP media website, Patricia King teaches Christians how to discern angels – reading from Hebrews 1:1-4;13.
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
[…]
And to which of the angels has he ever said,
“Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?
Chris Rosebrough reviewed Patricia King teaching from this text, claiming that because she read a verse about angels she can then spring-board to say anything she wants to about angels. He claimed that she was doing ‘the heresy two-step’. Is this true?
Patricia King assumes her listeners are familiar with her NAR ‘Spirit of Adoption/Sonship’ (SAS) theology.
See if you can pick up on it by examining this image…..
…..and then listening to the video below:
Did you pick up on it? If not, then maybe this verse often used by the NAR may help:
“No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.” John 3:13
If you still haven’t noticed the SAS theology then let us re-cap a bit. SAS heresy teaches that when we are born again by the spirit of A/S, we can manifest the same power as Christ did when he gave up his divinity and moved fully under the power of the Spirit and as a result, in intimacy and authority with the Father. By walking in this spiritual alignment and intimacy through the power of the ‘Holy Spirit’, he could walk in pure obedience to ascend into heaven itself to see and hear what the Father wanted him to do on earth.
With that in mind, the two important statements that tie what King says to Hebrews 1:1-4;13 are these statements:
1. “You are an heir of salvation when you received Jesus Christ as your savior.”
The ‘heir’ word is important. This is because in NAR SAS theology, this means, as adopted sons, we can now claim rights as heirs to our future inheritance now. This is why heretics are able to teach that believers can manifest as glorified Christs/gods here and now. We recently went through Bill Johnson teaching this, and how when he taught SAS heresy, he naturally led his audience down the road to assuming they can inherit their glorified kingdom-now bodies today.
Bethel Church peddling New Breed heresy (Part 1): Spirit of Sonship = Spirit of Adoption
But we digress. Going back to King’s statement above, she sees salvation as a gateway to tap into our divine Christ-like potential. That’s why she says the following:
2. “And you and I can do the same. We can be connected to our heavenly father in heaven, just like Jesus was…”
Believe it or not, the NAR teach that now we’ve received this SAS, just like Jesus, we can operate both on earth and in heaven. Now that we have been adopted by this ‘spirit of adoption/sonship’ we can call into existence our so-called future, heavenly inheritance now. They will often reference Romans 8 and this (out of context wrongly emphasized) verse:
“By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17
This is why they also emphasize in the Lord’s prayer ‘On earth as it is in heaven’.
Since Jesus is our example now in heaven, they will take Jesus’ Words from John 3:12-13 and apply it to themselves:
“If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.”
If you have any doubts, here is NAR Apostle Bill Johnson explaining how NAR believers interpret this verse in light SAS heresy:
“Jesus stood before His disciples, before Nicodemus in John chapter 3, and He made this statement, He said, “No one has ascended into heaven except He that descended.” John 3:13. Now this is before His death, before His Resurrection; so He was describing here a lifestyle of intimacy with the Father where even though He was standing on earth He had ascended into heavenly realms in His relationship with God. The point being, that is an invitation for every believer.” (Emphasis added)
They will also misuse Jesus’ words from John 6:46:
“… not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is from God; he has seen the Father.”
And also John 8:38:
“I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.”
This is why Apostles/Prophets and leaders in the NAR cult often talk about their heavenly tourism experiences. And this is why NAR Apostles and Prophets have no problem with someone like ‘Prophet’ Amanda Wells claiming to see the Father and the Holy Spirit. If Jesus saw the Father in the heavenly realm, why can’t they? They’re operating from the same Holy Spirit power as Jesus, right?
She concludes with the statement above after she paralleled how Christians should be able to flow “in and out of the invisible realm – the visible realm…” just as “Jesus was always living in two realms at the same time.”
Patricia King summarizes the above verses in SAS theology by stating,
“And you and I can do the same. We can be connected to our heavenly father in heaven, just like Jesus was,
and live in the realm on the earth with the invisible all around us.”
And it is this particular verse that ties in to Hebrews 1. Although King did not promote the glorification aspect of SAS heresy, she promoted level 3 – the ascension aspect since she promoted that both Christ and the believer can go “in and out of the invisible realm – the visible realm.” Just as Jesus Christ has “sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs” – so can we (according Patricia King), because just like Christ (now heirs), “angels are there to serve you. To help bring you into destiny and to protect your life.”
According to Patricia, the sign of this ascension life is the fact that we can now see and work with angels – this is because she loves focusing on the angelic. With other leaders of NAR theology, due to their own personal interests of the supernatural, they often draw on their own unique scriptures to explain how they are ‘supernaturally’ operating from this (ascension stage) theology.
This acension stage in SAS theology has been often referred to as Throne-Life theology, teaching believers how to live an ‘Acended Lifestyle’. To this day, NAR Apostle Bill Johnson still preaches this Throne-Life theology as does NAR Apostle Joseph Prince, NAR Apostle Brian Houston and many others.
CONCLUSION – HOW DID THIS THEOLOGY COME ABOUT?
In closing, we say this: the NAR in no way expresses or contends earnestly for the Christian faith. They have a different Jesus (kenotic Jesus), a different gospel (often called the Gospel of the Kingdom or the Gospel of Power), a different spirit (Spirit of Adoption/Sonship) which aligns you to a faith that is nothing more than pagan gnosticism. Our image above is there to highlight the similarities between Hindu/Buddhist gnostic practices. This is because when we look at the origins of these teachings, they emerged from teachers and leaders of the New Order of the Latter Rain (NOLR) cult (which gave is the Charismatic Renewal Movement (CRM)), in 1948.

Mahatma Gandi – Evanglical’s first Change Agent who modeled how we can be a spiritual Revolutionist who transformed a nation by prayer and fasting.
Their theology was shaped by historical events from the First World War onwards. Interestingly enough, one person who often plays a major role in NOLR/CRM/NAR theology, someone who shaped their theology for fasting and prayer and modeled as a change agent and revolutionary to changing a nation and the world is none other than Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi was a civil rights activist who rallied his believers to prayer and fasting to change his nation for the better. (See a similarity here between what we’ve seen in NAR events?)
Followers of the New Order of the Latter Rain cult were heavily influenced by Franklin Hall’s work ‘Atomic Power with God’. His teachings focused on the power of believers coming together in prayer and fasting to see God move across the nation and across the world to bring forth a global awakening. (Furthermore, NAR Apostle T.L. Osborne also talked about the influence of Ghandi on his life and the teachings of Franklin Hall.)
This theology of ‘global awakening’ has been an underlying theme of the movement today in the NAR cult, still pushed by today’s NAR Apostles and ‘prophets’. This awakening theology is connected to the Manifest Sons of God (MSOG) and New Breed (NB) heresy from the NOLR (see George Warnock). And this theology is connected to the fact that they teach that we, as believers, have not come into God’s full potential as spiritually adopted sons and daughters of God.
All this talk of ‘purpose’ and ‘discovering our potential’ as believers is nothing more than the pagan teachings of self-actualization or enlightenment in south-east Asian religions. Just as they can become like the Buddha (the enlightened one), and reach the higher planes of their deities – so the NAR teach that we to can become like the Christ or little Gods or ascend to some heavenly nirvana.
So if you hear of the ‘Spirit of Adoption/Sonship’ heresy, take note of it and avoid it. It is a different spirit that teaches a different faith that wants you to manifest a false Jesus so you can believe a false gospel.
TRANSCRIPT
1:46 – “You are an heir of salvation when you received Jesus Christ as your savior. And when you do, the angels are there to serve you. To help bring you into destiny and to protect your life. And in this session, I just want to provoke you and stir up your interest in this [spiritual] realm. Because every believer can actually discern these angels. Every believer can encounter them. Because, it’s like, once we become a member of the kingdom of God, we can flow in and out with God, in and out of the invisible realm – the visible realm, because we’re connected all the time.
Did you know that Jesus was always living in two realms at the same time? He lived in a heavenly dimension and he lived in the earthly dimension all at the same time. He was always connected to His father. And he said, ‘I only do what I see my Father do’. That’s out of John five verse nineteen. And how could he see what his father was doing except he be in heaven, okay? So he lived in that realm, because his father lived in the heavenly realm, but he also lived in the earth all at the same time.
And you and I can do the same. We can be connected to our heavenly father in heaven, just like Jesus was, and live in the realm on the earth with the invisible all around us. And we, being familiar with that and in touch with that.”
